At this point I was exhausted, I wanted this hell to be over with. I just wanted to sleep but I couldn't because of all the bloodwork, vitals, breathing treatments, and anything else. Not only were they doing lab work I was having my sugars checked. They kept saying I was diabetic, but I am not and had to keep telling them this, my glucose was great in fact at times too low, but due to the number of steroids, it can cause someone to show they may have diabetes.

I was working on 2 hours of sleep because my breathing was really bad, they had put me on 7 liters of oxygen with a face mask as the cannula was not working. I keep waking myself up snoring which actually hurts and feels like nothing but cold air going into your lungs. I was sleeping propped up because it was the only way to bring any comfort to me. If one thing gave me comfort was the fact that I had my own pillow and blanket. While I was in the ER Mike went home to grab me them because he knows how I am. I was even more thankful that they let me take it from the ER to my room as they were not allowing personal items.

So they say those with any type of breathing difficulties through this illness is to lay them in a prone position or modified prone. The thought behind it seems to be that it allows your lungs to have access to more air. I was unable to prone but I did a modified where I was on my side and laid the bed as flat as I could. While it did feel great at times it still was not a comfortable position to be in. I could see and still see the benefits though.

At around lunchtime I was able to speak to the main doctor I was seeing in the hospital. He said once the infection was gone it would be easier or me to breathe and my stats would start to improve. I actually had quick intervention from my primary doctor and his father who is the Pulmonologist on call. The plan is to start the Remdesivir as I do have Covid Pneumonia. It was determined I would be in the hospital to carry out the treatment of the medication and because I am so dependent on oxygen. They were hopeful as the virus is killed my lungs will start to heal so I can breathe on my own more. The other part of my treatment was to receive plasma from those who have had the virus. It would allow me to have the antibodies and give my body a chance to fight it. The Remdesivir was a 5-day treatment and the plasma would be two transfusions.

I was a bit hungry and it was crazy trying to get something even crackers to eat. They didn't bring anything till almost dinner time and I was getting sick from all the meds. But by then I had a roommate who had been moved over for another room. She was mobile just coughing a lot. She was such a sweetheart, at one point I had been calling the nurses station because I had to pee so bad and nothing. She ended up walking over to me and helping me get the bedside commode and walk to it. Here she was the same thing I had, further along in her recovery and she helped take care of me because as she said that is what we do for each other. I wanted to pay it forward in any way I could. I made sure to thank those who provided me treatment anytime they came in even when I wanted to throw my pillow at them LOL.
