Reagan interviewed for a job with a local media company here in the High Desert. She had a booth at the Townsend market a few weekends ago and the CEO had stopped by her booth. They exchanged information and he schedule an interview for her last Friday. He said he was very interested due to her personality and her work with various skin tones and lighting. Last night she came running into my room and said she had gotten the job and that they were going to send over all the contracts so she could go read them over.
I am so excited and immensely proud of her. Between school and working while still building her portfolio and doing her own work. Now she is focusing on driving and getting herself a car. While as a mom I am nervous for her to do that, I also know we will not always be around during the day to drive her to and from when she needs to go somewhere.
I can remember when I was 18 and just starting out. I was helping my mom out on the route (landscaping) or helping with my brother who is 14 years younger than me. Eventually, once Mike and I were married and stationed at Fort Irwin I was working on base at some part-time job. It was exposure to the military side of things but also gave me a chance to be somewhat independent. Now almost 20 years later I think I've gotten to experience it a lot.
Something I think is different and in a way cool to see is the fact that platforms like Linkind are kind of a one-stop shop type of thing. To be a job seeker or an employer right there all in one place with networking is convenient I feel.
