During the night my IV started putting medication under my skin so we had to turn it off and they started one higher up where my arm meets my collar bone area. Before they did that IV the one I had in my wrist was burning and hurting so bad they had to turn off the whole IV and remove it. We are not sure what happened but the nurse who took care of everything worked in ICU for 25 years and she was quick with that. That was a first but it was better than them trying to start a midline not to mention they didn't have anyone there to do it.

This morning I had no clue who my new nurse was and they hadn't come in. I was so done with everything at this point. I woke up to my roommate asking for her pain meds and I mean nothing! was done, not one word. In fact, the young man who answers the calls at the nurses' station pretty much acted as if she was med seeking. I ended up calling because she was in her bed crying.

After that I called my mom and told her everything, the lack of hygiene care, sanitization of the room, my roommate and her meds, the fact that it was 10 am and we are both on meds and they didn't bring breakfast. Hell, a cup of tea would have been nice. One thing I noticed is the number of meds they were pumping into my body, if I didn't eat at least crackers I would get horrible heartburn and no one would bring me anything. They kept giving me Zofran and that has a tendency to knock me out.

Once my mom had contacted them, my nurse who I hadn't seen, their team lead brought me stuff to clean up. It felt amazing and they said they were sorry and that it was uncalled for. I told them it was gross and really makes you feel less than and the team lead said she

understood.

The RT came in and did my breathing treatment and listened to my lungs. She said she wasn't hearing much going on in my lungs but she moved me down to 3 L on my oxygen and gave me a face mask which I tell you to want is heaven after having something on your nose. I felt like I could breathe better at the same time it was a short leash so I took it off when I needed to get up or wanted to sit up. I had been sitting on the edge of my bed way more as I didn't have a chair to sit in but I did it every chance I got. I would get up and try to walk from one side of my bed to the next also.

Around 3 pm I received a phone call from the patient rep saying "We are going to get your oxygen ready to go home so so will be calling you". I was so excited because I was not sure if I was going home that day or the process was starting. At about 4 pm the company who was in charge of my oxygen supply at home called and said they were getting ready to bring the canister and concentrate on the hospital. 6 pm came in and the doctor on call who was filling in for my pulmonologist told me that I would need to make a follow-up appt in 3-4 weeks with my pulmonologist for another chest CT to make sure the shadowing is gone, to continue with my planned treatment. Not too long after that, the nurses were bringing me all my paperwork, they allowed Mike to bring me some clothing to change into as it was cold outside and I had nothing but the hospital gown.

We had some hiccups with the oxygen tank. The nurses tried to figure out how to get it to work but it was broke so we had to call the company back out. The first time I called and nothing, the second time I called and let them talk to my nurse who at the same time had a patient rep calling them. At that point, I had already been discharged for 45 minutes and was just holding a bed. They brought me dinner and made me do my last breathing treatment for the night with them which was nice. Before I left I taught my roommate how to order her food and change the channels on her TV. She lives with her sister and it's only them two, so I felt like I needed to do something before I left.

I got home at about 8 pm and the first thing I did was get into the bath of course after being exhausted walking up the driveway to my room. Because I am still COVID positive I went straight to my room and just kind of said hi to the kids. I made sure my mask stayed on and so did Mike as I don't want to infect them or re-infect myself later on as the risk is very much there.

It felt so good to be home, but to say I am a little scared to sleep in my own bed is an understatement.
